Forest, Va. -- University of Lynchburg women's basketball senior Molly Shephard (Charlottesville, Va.) earned player of the week honors from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, the league office announced Monday afternoon.
Shephard, a two-time all-conference forward, averaged 23.5 points per game and 8.5 rebounds per game in Lynchburg's two wins last week.
She started the week with 20 points, six rebounds, and three assists in Lynchburg's 85-76 win over Guilford Wednesday night at home and followed that performance with a 27-point, 11-rebound outburst as the Hornets beat Bridgewater, 77-68, on the road Saturday. It was her seventh double-double of the season.
Shephard currently leads the team and ranks ninth in the ODAC in scoring this season at 15.0 points per game. Her 8.7 rebounds per contest also lead the Hornets and rank sixth in the league.
She broke into the program's all-time top 10 in career rebounds last week. Her four-year total of 566 comes in 10th on the program's leaderboard.
It is the first ODAC player of the week honor of the season for Lynchburg's women's basketball team and Shephard's first-career weekly award.
The Hornets are currently 9-9 overall, 7-4 in conference play, and they have won four of their past five games.
