Sparks, Md. -- Two Lynchburg College seniors have been selected to play in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association's 2018 Division III Senior All-Star Game, the IWLCA announced Friday.
Midfielder Dorrie MacGregor (Centreville, Md.) and defender Rachel Henderson (Perry Hall, Md.) will lace up the spikes one final time for the South team Saturday, June 2 on Tierney Field in Sparks, Md., at the US Lacrosse headquarters. The Division III game begins at 2:30 p.m., following the Division I and Division II contests.
The pair are the first two represent Lynchburg in the senior all-star game since Lesley Buckingham played in the 2012 iteration of the annual event. Both put up the numbers to back up the honor.
MacGregor had one of the most productive seasons in program history, breaking her own program record for draw controls in a season with 124 and also setting the career record in the category (260). She was third on the team with 34 goals and 35 ground balls, also adding six assists and earning first-team All-Chesapeake Region honors. Also a standout in the classroom, she was the Old Dominion Athletic Conference/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year in women's lacrosse and an at-large Google Cloud Academic All-District selection.
Henderson wrapped up one of the finest defensive careers in program lore, leading the team in ground balls (49) and caused turnovers (29) for the second-straight year. Her 71 career caused turnovers rank third in program history.
Both players were first-team All-ODAC and ODAC All-Tournament team honorees. The Hornets finished the season with a 9-8 record and reached the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
