Todd Olsen Named Division III National Women's Soccer Coach of the Year
KANSAS CITY, MO - Lynchburg College's Dr. Todd Olsen was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III Women's Coach of the Year Wednesday.
Olsen led the Hornets to the 2014 DIII National Championship title with a 27-0-1 mark which matched a national record for wins in a season and broke the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) record for wins, shutouts, consecutive shutouts, goals scored and points recorded in a season.
Olsen completed his 21th season at Lynchburg College in 2014. Since his arrival, the Hornets have posted 20 winning campaigns and have advanced to the NCAA Tournament 15 of the past 18 seasons. Since 2000, his squads have been to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament twice, the Elite Eight four times, and the Sweet 16 seven times. Under Olsen's leadership, his teams have a record of 364-82-40, and he ranks fourth in wins by current active D3 coaches.
Also during his tenure, the squad has produced 72 all-region, 78 all-state, 152 All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), five Academic All-Americans, and 12 NCAA All-Americans. Olsen has been named the ODAC and All-State Coach of the Year nine times.
Olsen will be presented his plaque on January 16 in Philadelphia, PA at the annual NSCAA Convention as a part of the awards banquet.
