Christopher Newport gained the advantage in the 68th minute with a goal from Gabby Gillis, assisted by Carson Pokorny. But the lead was short-lived after a shot from Jakubek was deflected by the goalkeeper and scored by Mertens in the 69th minute, tying the game back up at 1-1.
