Lynchburg, Va. -- University of Lynchburg's women's soccer team rolled past visiting Ferrum, 4-0, Saturday evening for a Senior Night victory to cap off the regular season.
Freshman midfielder Taylor Smith (Chesapeake, Va.) was the star of the evening, tallying a goal and an assist in the match.
The Hornets defense posted its 10th shutout of 2018.
Prior to the match, the Hornets celebrated the 11 members of the senior class.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Cooke got the scoring started in the 12th minute, taking a feed from Smith in the box and finishing.
Smith then doubled the Hornets' lead in the 18th minute, shooting a 25-yard dart into the top corner of the goal. Lynchburg would carry that lead into the half.
Jakubek got the second half started on the right foot, scoring unassisted in the 49th minute, and Lynchburg added its final tally in the 78th when sophomore midfielder Dana Seavey (Mendham, N.J.) played a near cross to Mertens, who finished on one touch.
Third-seeded Lynchburg will play host to No. 6 seed Washington and Lee in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinal on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The time of the match is yet to be determined. Check back on LynchburgSports.com for the latest.
