Kansas City, Mo. -- University of Lynchburg's women's soccer program saw four Hornets onto the United Soccer Coaches Division III All-South Atlantic Region team, the organization announced Monday evening.

Three Lynchburg players -- senior midfielder Kennedy Jakubek (Leesburg, Va.), senior forward Caitlin Mertens (Succasunna, N.J.), and senior defender Katie Waring (Chester, Va.) -- earned spots on the first team, while senior midfielder Kara Rombough (Fredericksburg, Va.) took third-team honors.

Jakubek also repeats her all-region status, moving up to the first team after earning second-team accolades last season. The first-team All-ODAC winger led the league with 15 assists, a mark that checks in sixth on the Division III leaderboard, and she added nine goals.

Mertens earns her second-career all-region nod after being named to the second team as a junior. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference's player of the year finished the season ranked second in Division III with 29 goals, and her 10 assists tallied her points total to 68, which also ranks No. 2 nationally. Her 10 game-winning goals rank third in Division III.

Waring joins the all-region ranks for the first time in her first year as the Hornets' center back. The senior led a Lynchburg defense that allowed just 18 goals in 26 matches this season. The first-team All-ODAC player chipped in a goal and two assists.

Rombough, a first-team all-region pick as a junior, joined the third team at the holding midfield spot. She was also a third-team all-conference honoree.

Lynchburg finished the year with a 20-3-3 record and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Division III national tournament. The Hornets claimed the program's 16th ODAC championship and topped the 20-victory plateau for the eighth time in program history.

Lynchburg has seen four or more players earn all-region accolades 10 of the past 11 seasons.
