Kansas City, Mo. -- The University of Lynchburg women's soccer team was one of 644 teams named to the 2018-19 National Academic Team, the United Soccer Coaches announced Thursday.
The College Team Academic Award recipients are active members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program with a composite grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale for all players on the roster for the 2018-19 academic year. Lynchburg's women's team held a 3.46 GPA to easily make the mark.
This is the sixth time since 2011 that the Hornets women's soccer team has been named to the National Academic Team.
Lynchburg's success in the classroom was paired with success on the field as the Hornets captured the 2018 ODAC Championship and made their way to the NCAA Division III Tournament Quarterfinals.
