Buena Vista, Va. -- Two University of Lynchburg women's soccer players landed spots on the Virginia Sports Information Directors' College Division All-State second team, VaSID announced Thursday morning.
Rudy, a Greencastle, Pa., native, adds the honor to a long list of 2019 postseason awards as she was also voted third-team All-South Atlantic Region and second-team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference in her senior season. She ranked second on the team with seven goals and tied for the team lead with four assists.
Lynchburg native Wigboldy enjoyed a tremendous start to her Hornets career after transferring prior to her sophomore season. She ranked second in the ODAC in both goals (15) and points (33) and led the Lynchburg squad in goals, points, game-winning goals (7), shots (62), and shots-on-goal (35). Wigboldy was a second-team All-ODAC honoree as well.
Randolph-Macon's Gabby Nelson was voted All-State player of the year, and Yellow Jackets mentor Jay Howell earned coach of the year honors. Sam Crawford, the Virginia Wesleyan standout defender, earned top rookie honors.
The 2019 season marks the 23rd consecutive season that Lynchburg's women's soccer team placed multiple players on the All-State teams.
