Forest, Va. -- Following a perfect 4-0 week, University of Lynchburg freshman Alissa Anderson (Norfolk, Va.) captured the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's women's tennis player of the week award, the league office announced Monday evening.
Anderson helped the Hornets improve to 11-2 on the season with a pair of ODAC wins on the road last week against Randolph and Sweet Briar.
She paired with senior Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) for a dominant 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles Tuesday at Randolph and followed with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the WildCats' Savana Mata at No. 3 singles. Lynchburg won the match, 7-2.
Friday at Sweet Briar, Anderson paired with junior Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) at the top doubles flight to win, 8-3. The freshman followed that with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles over the Vixens' Lexi Culley to cap off the 5-0 Hornets win.
Lynchburg is 6-1 in ODAC play this season and has won five of the last six matches.
It is the first-career conference player of the week for Anderson, who is 10-2 in dual-match singles play this season.
