Lynchburg, Va. -- For the second-straight season and second time in program history, University of Lynchburg's women's tennis team moved into the Old Dominion Athletic Conference semifinals Wednesday with a 5-0 win over Bridgewater.
The No. 2-seeded Hornets rolled through doubles play, starting at the No. 3 flight. Senior Reagan Coon (Churchville, Va.) and freshman Alissa Anderson (Norfolk, Va.) dominated, 8-0, followed by No. 1 pair of junior Christina Harris (Falls Church, Va.) and sophomore Caroline Guill (Louisa, Va.), who won 8-2.
Lynchburg made quick work of the Eagles in singles play as Harris won, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 1 and sophomore Ellen Druebbisch (Jamestown, N.C.) was victorious, 6-1, 6-0, at the fifth flight.
The win sets up a date with No. 3-seeded Randolph-Macon, which defeated seventh-seeded Emory & Henry, 5-0, in their quarterfinal match. The teams will meet Saturday, May 4 at Virginia Wesleyan University in Virginia Beach, Va.
Lynchburg's women have never reached the ODAC title match.
