Ashley Allen Earns CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-District Honors
LYNCHBURG, VA – Lynchburg College senior Ashley Allen earned first-team Academic District III Women's Cross Country and Track and Field honors Thursday, as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Allen had a record breaking season. She set the school record in the outdoor hammer with a throw of 163' 8" at High Point to win the event - and also captured the title at two other collegiate invitational meets. She took second place at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships in the shot put, while taking third in the discus and second in the hammer throw.
In the indoor season, Allen was the 2010-11 ODAC Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year. She broke school records in the shot put and hammer throw. At the conference championships, she was second in the weight throw with a heave of and was third in the shot put. Academically, Allen had a 3.96 GPA while majoring in athletic training.
Allen and all other first-team honorees are eligible for Academic All-American honors, which will be voted on next week.
