Virginia Beach, Va. -- Lynchburg College's women's and men's cross country teams ran near the front of the pack at Saturday's Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship meet, racing to second and third places, respectively, at Virginia Wesleyan University.
Morgan Watson (Concord, Va.) paved the way for the Hornet women, coming in fourth in the 6k race with her fastest time of the season at 22:11.14. The junior earned her second-straight first-team All-ODAC nod with the personal best.
Michela Cholak (Ocean Township, N.J.) continued her fine season with a ninth-place finish (22:29) to earn second-team all-conference accolades. Samantha Schreiber (Gladys, Va.), Abby May (Lynchburg, Va.), and Stephanie Burnett (Midlothian, Va.) all finished in the top 25 to help LC's second-place team effort. It was the Hornet women's best team finish since they placed second in the 2010 championship meet.
On the men's side, Tristan Lucy-Speidel (Fort Valley, Va.) led the Hornets with a fifth-place individual performance and a personal-record 25:11.44 in the 8k for the junior's first first-team All-ODAC nod.
The Hornet men got a second-team All-ODAC performance out of freshman Hunter Frizzell (Fredericksburg, Va.), who also churned out a personal-best 25:31.32. Sophomore Ethan Batchelor (Parkton, Md.) also ran to a top-20 finish.
The teams will move on to the Division III South/Southeast Regional meet, which will be Saturday, Nov. 11 at the Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News, Va.
